(Eastaboga, AL - July 2, 2025) – As the Crate Racin’ USA National Weekly Championship chase rolls into the final stretch, Week 18 brought a mix of consistency at the top and chaos in the chase packs. With just 12 weeks remaining, every race—and every point—matters more than ever.
CRUSA Late Models: Scarbrough Surges to the Summit
The Late Model division has a new leader, and his name is Sid Scarbrough. The Florence, MS native rode a dominant weekend to leapfrog Ben Davis and claim the top spot with 621 points. Davis, who stood atop the standings last week with 592, didn’t add to his total and now finds himself trailing by 29 markers.
Shannon Lee remains in third at 558, holding steady, but falling farther behind the title fight, now 63 points off the lead. Brody Williams(R) and James Shirley round out the Top 5 with 521 and 515, respectively, both looking for a breakthrough to get back into contention.
David Williamson made a notable jump, climbing into the Top 10 and up to 10th with 432 points, passing Wayne Patton and Kevin DuPont, who remain at 410 and 408. Steve Russell also enters the leaderboard in 13th, making a 97-point leap from outside the Top 15.
With the biggest shake-up yet in the division, all eyes will be on Scarbrough to see if he can maintain his momentum—or if Davis and Lee will strike back in Week 19.
CRUSA Late Model Sportsman: White Stays Hot, Gaps Close Behind
Brett White continues to show no signs of slowing down in the Late Model Sportsman standings. The Kosciusko, MS racer added to his total again, climbing from 644 to 687 points, extending his commanding lead.
But the chase pack is heating up. Devin Whatley made up ground, going from 577 to 627, narrowing the gap to 60 points. Rookie Brandon Lunsford had a solid week as well, climbing to 596 points, while Zack Owens and Covy Parsons remain in striking range with 582 and 570, respectively.
Grayson Williams and Allen Edwards each posted strong weekends to stay within shouting distance in sixth and seventh. Meanwhile, Landon Mathews returned to form to jump back to eighth, pushing past Mark McCoy, who stays at 415, and Jarrett Jones(R) who holds at 392.
The top 10 stayed intact, but the margins are getting slimmer behind White, and the pressure is mounting.
CRUSA Modified Sportsman: Grimes Extends, Grandel Keeps It Close
In the Modified Sportsman division, Colton Grimes added another jewel to his crown with a gain of 45 points, extending his total to 493. But Ron Grandel is right there with him, adding 48 points to his tally for 458 total, and keeping the title chase alive just 35 points back.
Behind them, the rest of the top five saw no change in order but lost further ground to the leaders. Keith Coan and Chad Gentry(R) remain in a virtual tie for third and fourth, while Luke Riddle holds at fifth with 318.
New to the top 10 this week is Dees Price, jumping up to eighth with 241 points, joined closely by Parker Price, who follows with 239. Both drivers edged past Parker Thompson, who now sits tenth at 217.
While Grimes remains the man to beat, Grandel’s consistency has turned this into a true two-horse race heading into Week 19.
CRUSA Street Stocks: Martin Holding Firm as Mid-Pack Tightens
In the Street Stock division, Calvin Martin continues to be the model of weekly perfection, adding one more point to inch his total to 696, maintaining his top spot for yet another week.
Malachi Magee(R) matched the effort and sits comfortably in second with 634, while Corey Buhler(R) had a strong showing, moving from 534 to 575 and closing the gap on second place to just 59 points.
Right behind him, the battle for fourth tightened dramatically. Travis Marsh and Bryce Sheasby both cracked the 560-point mark, setting up a thrilling three-way fight for a potential podium finish. Carlos Williamson(R) stays solid in sixth at 531, though he lost ground to the top five.
Brandon Farmer(R) and Chase Pennington continued steady climbs, now seventh and eighth, respectively, while James Sheasby returned to the Top 10 at ninth with 455. Courtney Passman(R) holds on to tenth, as Richard Zeller and Justin Hart fall just outside.
With five drivers now separated by less than 20 points in the third-to-fifth window, the Street Stocks are shaping up to be one of the fiercest battles in the closing stretch.
